Hands shaping clay on a potter's wheel in the Tansyfield studio

Our story

About the studio

Tansyfield began with a single workbench and a simple idea: that jewellery, stoneware and leather goods should be made slowly, in small runs, by hands that know every piece. Our necklaces and rings are shaped and hand-finished one at a time, our stoneware is thrown on the wheel in small kiln loads, and our leather is cut and saddle-stitched by hand.

Everything is made in one small studio in India, in batches of a few dozen at most. Small runs mean we can be careful with materials, waste very little, and let each batch carry its own quiet differences. When a batch sells through, we make the next one rather than rushing more of the same.

Every order is packed in recycled paper and straw, with no plastic. Studio visits are by appointment only, so the bench stays quiet enough for careful work — write to us below and we will find a time.

How we work

Thrown

Our stoneware is thrown on the wheel, trimmed and glazed by hand, then fired in small kiln loads.

Sewn

Our leather is cut in small lots and saddle-stitched by hand, so every seam outlives a machine stitch.

Set

Our jewellery is shaped, set and polished at one bench, then checked piece by piece before packing.
